About Driver Software Guide

Hey…

I’m Nick, and I’d like to tell you about a couple of reasons why I created this site.

First, in December of 2008, I wrote a simple “how-to” that fixes an annoying computer problem.

By October 2009, it had been read by more than 50,000 people.

50,000 people!

I find it amazing that something that took me 20 minutes to write could help so many people.

And second, I watched the following video, where Scott from Google asked 50 people the question “What is a browser?”

Only 4 people knew the answer.

Check out the video:

I figured if only 8% of people know what a browser is, the number of people who know how to use driver software must be even less.

And those two things were the main inspiration behind creating Driver Software Guide: To help you learn how to use your driver software and get the most out of it.

Plus, if you’re thinking of buying driver software, you can see each one in action and decide which is the right one for you.

Tags

I’ve used tags to help you use the site more easily.

Here are a couple of examples of how it works:

If you click on the update drivers tag (on the right sidebar), you’ll get a list of all the how-tos about updating drivers.

And if you click on Driver Genius, you can see all Driver Genius’ features in action.

Simple, huh?

About the how-tos

All of the how-tos screenshots were taken using my computer, which uses the Window XP operating system.

If you’re using a different version of Windows, the screenshots may look slightly different.

However, the how-to steps should still be the same.

About the software

All of the driver software will scan your computer and report which drivers are out-of-date for free.

However, if you want to download any drivers, you’ll have to pony up around 30 bucks to register the software.

And on the subject of software…

If you download and register the software via the links on this site, I may be remunerated by the merchant.

(I promise not to spend more than 99% of it on wine, women, and song, though.)

Site stuff

This site uses WordPress as a CMS.

It took a lot of tweaking and editing of PHP to get the site to do what I wanted.

And it wouldn’t have been possible without the WordPress community.

So I would like to thank everyone who’s ever written a WordPress how-to or tutorial. You’re awesome.

Any questions?

If you have any questions, or comments, or need any help using the driver software, shoot me an email and I’ll do my best to help.

Kind regards

Nick
